What is Aesthetic Forehead Lift?

Forehead lift aesthetics is a cosmetic surgery technique used to narrow the forehead or eliminate wrinkles that grow on our skin as we age, as well as to elevate our brows that have shifted downwards. Although society’s idea of beauty evolves with age, some beauty standards are embedded in our DNA. The proportions that are viewed as attractive enough to grab the attention of even newborns are the greatest way to meet this. The face may be judged most easily by dividing it into upper, middle, and bottom thirds. The upper third is likewise predicted to be covered by the brow. Even if a broad and convex forehead is seen as a sign of intellect, if the standard deviation is too large, it will be perceived as ‘out of the ordinary.’ It is feasible to lengthen and narrow the forehead in the same session in persons who have a broader than average brow by creating an incision from the hairline.

What Is the Procedure for Forehead Lift Surgery?

Forehead lift surgery is performed in the hair between both ears, in a fashion that fits where the crown rests when we put a crown on our hair, or by entering through an incision from the hair roots and fixing all the soft tissues together or separately by extending upwards. If required, partly permanent damage can be done to the muscles that cause us to frown and drag our brows downwards, allowing us to shift our brows upwards or restrict our frown mimicry. As a result, a permanent effect comparable to Botox between the brows is delivered.

After the forehead has been sufficiently stretched, it is critical to repair it. If the deep tissues are not sufficiently fixed, the soft tissues will be moved downwards by the influence of imitation muscles and gravity and will return to their original position. If this displacement is not bilateral, it will seem asymmetrical. To permanently attach soft tissues, they must be fixed to bone or bone membrane. Endotin, plate, and screws can be used to secure it to the bone, or surgical threads can be utilized to attach it to the bone/bone membrane.

The most frequent consequence of forehead lift surgery is drooping brows. Because the scalp is a highly blooded region, bleeding may occur. Infection is not predicted for the same reason. A branch of the facial nerve that permits us to perform gestures travels bilaterally to our forehead, to the muscle that allows us to wrinkle our brow. During the surgery, it may be temporarily or permanently destroyed. In the event of permanent injury, the muscle that permits us to wrinkle our brow will be immobilized, and no wrinkles will grow on the brow. An unbalanced picture will result if this is one-sided. This muscular paralysis, however, is typically transitory. Muscle mobility usually recovers between 3 and 18 months.

The Recovery Period Following Forehead Lift Surgery

The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia. It takes around 2-2.5 hours. Following the operation, two drains are installed. If the procedure goes as usual, our patients can be released after one night of hospitalization once the drains are removed.

Following surgery, edema and bruising might be noticed, most notably around the eyes. This bruising and swelling may extend to the lower face/neck as a result of the loose connective tissues of the face and the action of gravity. On average, it is likely to regress within 10 days. Ice treatment during this procedure, as well as sleeping down with the pillow slightly elevated, will help to speed up the healing process. If permanent sutures are used during the procedure, they should be removed 7-10 days afterwards. There will be permanent scars since the stitches will remain in the hair or be produced from the hairline, but they will not be visible in the regions that would draw attention.

What Can Be Done in Combined With Forehead Lift Surgery?

Eyelid aesthetics and temporal eyebrow lift (extending the tail sections of the brows to the side and upwards) can be used in conjunction with forehead lift surgery. The outer joints of the eyelids might be taken higher if necessary (Almond eye aesthetics). The brows will move slightly lower when post-operative edema resolves. It will be healthier to apply eyelid aesthetics / almond eye aesthetics once the brows have taken their final shape.

What are the Aesthetics of a Non-Surgical Forehead Lift?

Non-surgical procedures cannot replicate the benefits of a forehead lift surgery. Botox, on the other hand, temporarily paralyzes the muscles on our forehead and causes wrinkles. Again, filling with fluid hyaluronic acid fillers can temporarily decrease wrinkles. Permanent or temporary ropes and suspension systems can be used to extend the forehead margins to the side and upwards. Furthermore, the procedure can be conducted endoscopically with fewer incisions.

Who Should Consider Forehead Lift Surgery?

Forehead lift surgery can be performed on any healthy adult over the age of 18 who is willing to undergo general anesthesia, has appropriate hair volume, and want to permanently minimize creases on the forehead and raise their brows.
